Delhi Weather: Light Rain and Thunderstorms Forecast Today, AQI Improves to 146

Delhi Enjoys Brief Weather Relief; IMD Issues Yellow Alert, No Heatwave in Sight

New Delhi: Thursday morning brought welcome relief for Delhiites as the city experienced pleasant weather, with cool breezes helping ease the recent spell of heat and humidity. Many areas across the Capital also recorded a slight dip in temperatures.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the day, indicating the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds. Light rain or isolated thunderstorms are expected under mostly cloudy skies. The day’s maximum temperature is projected to hover around 36°C, while the minimum may settle near 25°C.

Starting today, the weather is likely to shift gradually. The IMD predicts a return to warmer conditions, with daytime temperatures rising steadily and expected to peak between 38°C and 40°C from June 5 to 8. However, the department has clarified that heatwave conditions are not anticipated in the coming week.

Winds are forecast to turn north-westerly by the weekend, blowing at moderate speeds between 20 and 30 kmph, offering some comfort despite the rising mercury.
